Srinagar, Apr 15: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) held a crucial high-level meeting with its district body and zone presidents at the party headquarters here.
Chaired by General Secretary Mohammad Khurshid Alam, the gathering focused on finalising preparations for the highly anticipated workers’ convention set to take place on April 17, the party said in a statement issued here.
Highlighting the importance of the convention, Alam urged party members to approach the event with dedication and unity. “This convention is not merely a gathering—it stands as a powerful reflection of our unity, strength and the steadfast commitment of our grassroots workers,” he said. The PDP leader called for sincere contributions from all members to ensure the event is remembered as a historic milestone for the party.
The meeting was attended by several key party leaders and office bearers, including District President Srinagar Abdul Qayoom, Kohsheen Ahmad, Iqbal Tramboo, and others. A significant moment included the formal recognition of Mr Rafiq, who was appointed as the Zonal President for Hazratbal earlier in the day. The leadership expressed confidence that his experience and commitment would enhance the PDP’s outreach and influence in the Hazratbal constituency.
On this occasion, party members unanimously expressed their deep appreciation for the “fearless and unyielding” efforts of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti. “Her resolute stand in voicing the concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly her outspoken opposition to the contentious Waqf Bill and her relentless advocacy for public rights, was wholeheartedly acknowledged by all present,” the statement said.
The meeting concluded with a renewed spirit of unity, purpose and determination among party members — reaffirming their collective resolve to make the forthcoming workers’ convention a landmark event that embodies the strength, resilience, and enduring commitment of the PDP’s grassroots cadre, the statement added.
