Kupwara, Dec 23: Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education Department Bhupinder Kumar along with Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq ahmad Rather on Friday visited Kupwara to review the progress of healthcare sector in the district and to felicitate the DNB students.
On his arrival, the Secretary chaired a review meeting at meeting hall of D.C Office Kupwara.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray; Director Health Services Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather; Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Teli, Divisional Nodal Officer Dr Mehta besides other senior officers were present.
Addressing the meeting, the Secretary appreciated the District Administration Kupwara and Health functionaries for improvement in overall performance of health sector of the district especially managing the Covid-19 crisis effectively.
He also complimented Director Health services for working hard and getting the DNB programme started in the major hospitals of the valley.
He said that the department is committed to strengthen the hospitals more and more in terms of faculty and quality education, besides, other essential amenities to boost the health care scenario in the district.
Referring to the GMC Handwara, the Secretary said that the work on the Medical College Handwara has already started and advertisement for recruitment of the faculty has also been issued.
Regarding screening of non-communicable diseases, Kumar directed all the concerned officers to start the work for early detection of non-communicable diseases in the district to save the quality time.
DC Kupwara in his address said that because of the intervention of the Secretary Health they have been able to start the work on GMC Handwara.
Director Health Services Kashmir highlighted the achievements of the health department in the district. He expressed his gratitude to secretary health for his support and guidance.
Later, the Secretary felicitated the students of Diplomat of National Board (DNB) programme in presence of DC Kupwara and Director Health Services Kashmir.
On the occasion, it was informed that 10 students have got enrolled in the DNB program in District Hospital Handwara and Sub District Hospital Kupwara.
