Srinagar, June 25: In a significant development, ADGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, led a joint meeting with officers from the Police, BSF, and CRPF at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir.
The meeting primarily focused on discussing comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a safe and seamless conduct of the upcoming SANJY-2023 pilgrimage.
Notable attendees included IG BSF Ashok Yadav, DIG CKR Srinagar Sujit Kumar, DIG SKR Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DIG CRPF (South Srinagar) Mathew A John, DIG CRPF Panthachowk Pramod Kumar Mehra, DIG CRPF Anantnag range Shri Kulvir Singh Deswal, SSP Srinagar Shri Rakesh Balwal, CO CRPF Shri Harjinder Singh Bhumal, and several other esteemed officers.
During the meeting, ADGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of a multi-layered security approach, leveraging the expertise and resources of multiple security agencies. The discussions revolved around bolstering the existing security infrastructure, enhancing surveillance measures, and augmenting personnel deployment along the pilgrimage route.
The meeting delved into various aspects of security, including the evaluation of threat perception, crowd management, traffic control, and emergency response mechanisms. Moreover, several standard operating procedures (SOPs) pertaining to countering various types of terror attacks, drone attacks, natural disasters, and law and order situations were revised and modified.
ADGP Kashmir urged the officers to maintain vigilance and proactivity, staying up-to-date with the latest security protocols and intelligence inputs. To mitigate potential threats, the officers were directed to deploy Anti-Sabotage teams along the Amarnath Yatra route, capable of identifying and neutralizing any possible terror threats. Advanced drone technology was also recommended for enhanced surveillance and threat detection, including real-time aerial monitoring over the pilgrimage route.
In addition, the meeting emphasized the crucial coordination among the different agencies involved in the security arrangements. ADGP Kashmir highlighted the significance of seamless collaboration and information sharing to establish a cohesive and effective security apparatus.
The senior officers present at the meeting shared valuable insights and recommendations, emphasizing the importance of robust communication channels, regular training programs, and real-time monitoring systems.
Expressing confidence in the capabilities of the security personnel and their dedication to ensuring the safety of the devotees, ADGP Kashmir urged them to work closely with local communities and religious leaders.
