ACB registers case against Kishtwar RDD officials for ‘misappropriation’ of funds

Jammu, July 03: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against officials of the Rural Development Department (RDD) Block Dachhan in Kishtwar district for alleged misappropriation of funds.
The ACB in a statement issued here said it has registered a case, FIR No. 01/2024 under sections 5(1)(c) and 5(1)(d) read with section 5(2) of the JK PC Act Svt. 2006 and section 120-B RPC, P/S ACB Doda, against officials of the Rural Development Department (RDD) Block Dachhan, District Kishtwar.
The officials named in the case include Parveen Sharma, the then BDO Block Dachhan, Mohd Abass, then VLW Panchayat Loharna-B and Janakpur, Mohd Hussain, then VLW Loharna-B, Munshi Ram, then VLW Panchayat Janakpur, Ranjeet Raina, then GRS Panchayat Loharna-B and Janakpur, Daleep Kumar, then GRS Panchayat Loharna-B, and Asif Hussain, Sarpanch Panchayat Janakpur, among others, the statement said.
The case was registered following a preliminary enquiry (PE) into allegations that Asif Hussain, Sarpanch Janakpur, in connivance with the officers/officials of RDD Dachhan, misappropriated Rs 30,25,264 meant for 20 different works in Panchayats Loharna-B and Janakpur, the bureau said, adding that these works were to be executed under various schemes of the Rural Development Department.
“The enquiry revealed that the accused officials, in a well-knit conspiracy with each other and the beneficiaries, dishonestly and fraudulently abused their official positions to misappropriate funds, resulting in a significant loss to the state exchequer,” it said.
During the investigation, the house of the accused public servant Parveen Sharma, then BDO Dachhan, located at H. No 5-B, Lane No.12 Greater Kailash, Jammu, was searched, the ACB said, adding that further investigation in the case is ongoing.
