2nd South Kashmir Volleyball C’ship commences at Kulgam

Kulgam, Dec 19: Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul on Monday inaugurated the second edition of the South Kashmir Volleyball Championship for boys and girls at MS Badroo ground, here.
The three-day championship is being organized by the Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with the Kulgam District Volleyball Association and sponsorship of the J&K Sports Council.
In this championship best eight teams for the boys’ section and four teams for the girls’ section are taking part from Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian districts.
Anyat Ullah Member of DDC Kulgam was the Guest of Honour on the opening day of the championship.
In the opening ceremony, the office bearers of the Volleyball Association of J&K Kuldip Magotra, R.C Sharma, Abdul Ahad Shah, Mohd Tariq, Akbar Ali and district secretaries Kulgam Nelofar Habib, Anantnag Abdul Ahad shah, Pulwama Mudasir Dar and other dignitaries Ayaz Geelani SHO Yaripora (Kulgam district), Davood Ahmed, Showket Ahmed, Feroz Ahmed, Javid Ahmed, Aashikh Ahmed Wani, Junaid Ahmed of Kulgam organizers were present.
Chief Executive Officer VAJK, Kuldip Magotra praised the Chief Guest Nuzhat Gul saying, “We are very thankful to the J&K Sports Council who sponsor the championship for the youth of Kashmir Valley.”
“In this championship, the association is providing free boarding/lodging to all the participants and in addition to this association is also announcing cash prizes of  Rs 20,000 each to winners of boys and girls teams and Rs 15,000 each to runners-up boys and girls teams besides trophies and medals,” Magotra said.
Nuzhat Gul congratulated the organizers for organizing such a tournament in Kulgam.  She said that parents need to support their children to participate in such programs which will help to keep themselves away from bad evils like drug addiction.
Monday’s matches were officiated by Shabbir Ahmed, Mohd Ikhlaq, Intazar Ali, Mohd Munshi, Sidarat Hussain, Manzoor Khan, Hamid Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed, Gulam Rasool Malik and Ajaz Ahmed.

BOYS: Super Spikers Shopian beat Azgar Army Club Kulgam by 2-0 (25-19, 25-22); Spartan Club Anantnag beat Tral Tiger Club Pulwama by 2-0 (25-16, 25-16); Star Club Kulgam beat Attack Line Shopian by 2-0 (25-23, 25-23); Star Club Pulwama beat Ball Buster Anantnag by 2-0 (25-08, 25-21); Azgar Army Club Kulgam beat Tral Tiger Club Pulwama by 2-0 (25-13, 25-14); Star Club Pulwama beat Star Club Kulgam by 2-0 (25-22, 25-17).
GIRLS: Maroofa Club Kulgam beat Super Stickers Club Shopian by 2-0 (25-08, 25-14); Blue Club Anantnag beat KKPS Club Pulwama by 2-0 (25-04, 25-05); Maroofa Club Kulgam beat KKPS Club Pulwama by 2-0 (25-10, 25-05).
