Handwara, Nov 21: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani Monday said J&K needs immediate conduct of assembly elections so that representatives elected by people can solve their issues and grievances.
The JKPCC Chief was addressing workers’ convention at Handwara in frontier district of Kupwara in which prominent party leaders and workers of PCC and DCC participated.
He said the BJP government at Centre has failed to come up to the expectations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Mishandling of situation and enacting different stories with regard to restoration of democratic process, development and employment besides promises on resolution of other issues have fallen flat whilst the policies adopted by both Centre and J&K government have disappointed and caused enormous inconvenience to people.”
Addressing the convention, he blamed the BJP government at Centre for failing to address genuine needs of the people. “So called good governance and developmental claims is nowhere to be seen.”
Wani said elections are being delayed on one pretext or the other, “but that will not hide the anti-people policies of the BJP government, rather it will further expose it.”
He claimed that since the BJP government assumed power at Centre the developmental process, employment generation, development of rural and poor people and many other significant measures, initiated by the UPA-I and UPA-II have received serious setbacks.
“Modi government is making false claims with regard to development and unemployment which has risen considerably, unprecedented price hike on essentials and other required items have depressed people economically to a large extent,” PCC President said.
The JKPCC President urged the party workers to get connected with common people in their respective areas and “enlighten them about the pro-people policies and services rendered by the Congress party and seek their support to fight against the wrong policies of the government.”
Senior Party Leader Mohammad Anwar Bhat, Irshad Ahmad Ganie, Javed Ahmad Mir, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Haroon Ahmad, Murtaza Wani, Zahoor Ahmad, Dr. Arif Hussain, Firdous Wani and other leaders addressed the convention.
