Budgam, June 18: Due to the incomplete work on the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Wahabpora village in this central Kashmir’s Budgam district, the people from the village and its adjoining areas are facing a lot of difficulties as the old building of the health centre does not have proper facilities available for patients.
Haji Muhammad Baqir Dar, a local, told Rising Kashmir that the construction of the new building for the health centre was started five years ago. Unfortunately, it was stopped due to unknown reasons, and since then no steps have been taken to complete the pending work of the health centre, he said.
Presently, the health centre functions from the old building where all kinds of facilities are not available for patients who are left with no option but to visit the district hospital Budgam and Srinagar-based hospitals, the locals said.
Ali Mohammad, another resident of Wahabpora, said the condition of the new building of the health centre is getting worse with each passing day since it was left incomplete.
“Due to the non-availability of proper facilities in the old building, the patients have to spend a lot of money to visit other hospitals during emergency times. If the construction of the new building will get completed and proper facilities will be made available, the people from nearly a dozen various villages will benefit and heave a sigh of relief,” he said.
The people have requested Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Director Health Services Kashmir, and Deputy Commissioner Budgam to look into the matter and take necessary steps in this regard.
An official from the Chief Medical Officer said there is no administrative approval for the new building of the health centre in Wahabpora village.
