Srinagar JK- The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) expresses deep concern over the substantial losses incurred by farmers and fruit growers in Jammu and Kashmir due to the unstable weather conditions prevailing in the region. The state’s economy heavily relies on agricultural produce, particularly fruit crops, which have been severely affected by the adverse climate.

Waseem yaqoob said-Unpredictable weather patterns, including untimely rains, hailstorms, and extreme temperature fluctuations, have wreaked havoc on the crops, leading to substantial financial setbacks for the farmers and endangering the stability of the agricultural sector. This situation calls for immediate attention and support from the administration to alleviate the distress faced by these hardworking individuals.

The farming community in Jammu and Kashmir has consistently played a crucial role in sustaining the region’s economy. The fruit crops, in particular, contribute significantly to the state’s revenue and provide livelihoods for a vast number of people. The recent crop losses have not only affected the farmers’ incomes but also jeopardized the overall economic prosperity of the region.

In light of these distressing circumstances, the Democratic Progressive Azad Party appeals to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to take prompt action and provide substantial relief measures to the affected farmers and fruit growers. We urge the administration to consider the following steps:

1. Immediate assessment and evaluation of the extent of the crop losses, taking into account the specific damages suffered by each farmer and fruit grower.
2. Provision of financial assistance and subsidies to aid in the recovery and restoration of the affected agricultural lands and orchards.
3. Implementation of comprehensive insurance schemes to safeguard farmers against future losses caused by erratic weather patterns.
4. Establishment of dedicated helplines and support centers to ensure swift assistance and guidance to the affected individuals.
5. Facilitation of low-interest loans and financial aid programs to help farmers and fruit growers resume their agricultural activities.

We believe that by offering substantial support and relief measures, the administration can alleviate the hardships faced by the farming community and help them recover from the significant losses incurred. Moreover, such measures will instill confidence and resilience among the farmers, enabling them to bounce back and contribute to the revival of the state’s agricultural sector.

The Democratic Progressive Azad Party remains committed to championing the cause of the farming community and will actively work towards ensuring that their concerns and needs are addressed by the administration. We call upon all relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and civil society, to join hands in providing the necessary assistance and support to our farmers and fruit growers during this challenging time.
