Srinagar, July 17: A tragic road accident in the Maloora area of Srinagar outskirts claimed the lives of a traffic cop and a civilian on Monday afternoon.
According to eyewitness accounts, a speeding truck suddenly veered out of control, skidded off the road, and flipped over, causing injuries to three individuals. Prompt action was taken, and all the injured were swiftly transported to JVC Hospital in Bemina for immediate medical attention.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff, SPO Zahoor Ahmad and Javaid Ahmad Bhat were  declared dead upon their arrival at the hospital. The injured individual, identified as Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a tipper driver from Pulwama, is currently in stable condition, as confirmed by Dr. Shafa Deva, the Medical Superintendent at JVC Hospital.
A police officer revealed that a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law, and a comprehensive investigation into the incident is underway. The officer emphasized that all possible angles are being thoroughly examined to ascertain the cause and circumstances surrounding the accident.
The loss of two lives in this unfortunate accident has sent shockwaves through the locality. SPO Zahoor Ahmad’s untimely demise has left a void in the Traffic department, where he served diligently. The civilian victim, Javaid Ahmad Bhat, was a resident of Maloora, and his sudden demise has deeply saddened his friends and neighbours.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution while driving and adhere to traffic rules to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
