Jammu, May 15: A deputation of the National Conference Minority Cell led by its president Jatin Bhat called on the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants, KK Sidha and discussed various issues pertaining to migrants.
Dy Relief Commissioner Davinder Singh and Assistant Commissioner Relief Dr Reyaz were also present on the occasion, a party statement issued here said.
The deputation expressed dismay over the delaying tactics adopted by the government in settling long-pending issues of the migrants, it said, adding that the migrants were facing humiliation and harassment on one pretext or the other.
Jatin demanded the constitution of an Advisory Committee (Apex) for migrants to address the problems being faced by the Kashmiri Pandits residing in various camps across the union territory. He said the framing of the aforesaid Advisory Committee was deliberately ignored by the J&K government since 2014 due to which migrants are facing huge hardships.
“The deputation also demanded adequate arrangements for impending Mata Kheer Bhawanl Yatra for migrants residing in various camps and non-camps like availability of free buses at all camps and at few KP dominant areas; proper security arrangements should be made for smooth conduct of yatra; arrangements of stay for the Yatris at Tullamulla Ganderbal; appointment orders in favour of those 45 aspirants who have already got directions from the court; enhancement of cash relief assistance in favour of relief card holders; ration slips to anyone who is in blood relation of card holder; construction of TRTs for those families who are still staying in rented accommodation at Jammu; construction of stadium at Jagti; distribution of sport kits among the migrants at Muthi, Purkho, Jagti and non-camp; extension of Khelo India scheme for migrants through migrant schools established at various places at Jammu and basic facilities may kindly provided to those families who are residing in old TRT Purkhoo,” the statement said.
