Baramulla, July 06: In a concerted effort to boost eco-tourism in the district, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, chaired a meeting to devise strategies for promoting tourism activities in newly identified tourist destinations across the district.
The meeting aimed to uncover hidden tourist gems such as Ladu Ladoora, MundDaji in Rafiabad; Rajpura Rampura, Yambarzalwari in Sopore; Parihaspora, and Kazinag National Park and incorporate them into the tourism map.
Recognizing the vast and unique tourism potential of the district, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar expressed confidence that these picturesque tourist destinations, with their breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, delectable cuisine, and warm hospitality, will carve a special place for themselves on the tourism map.
The Deputy Commissioner affirmed the district administration’s commitment to provide the necessary infrastructure and resources to unlock new economic opportunities for the people through the tourism industry.
Emphasizing the importance of developing various tourist circuits, Dr Sehrish Asgar called for a focus on adventure tourism, trekking activities, pilgrimage sites, water sports, and other popular ventures.
She stressed the need to ensure easy access to tourist spots, along with essential amenities such as mobile connectivity, well-maintained roads, electricity, drinking water facilities, and other utilities to ensure a hassle-free and memorable experience for visitors.
During the meeting, attention was also given to the promotion of home-stays in the district.
Dr Sehrish Asgar urged the Tourism Department to register and list home-stay accommodations in the vicinity, equipped with sophisticated facilities, to cater to the needs of tourists.
To enhance the overall tourist experience, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure the provision of public conveniences, parking facilities, sanitation services, cleanliness, signage, and toilet units at all tourist places.
Furthermore, she called for leveraging social media platforms to promote the district’s tourist destinations, cultural heritage, and other significant landmarks.
In an update, it was revealed that 14 kilometers of road leading to MundDaji Rafiabad had been successfully macadamized, with an additional 5 kilometers set to be completed during the current season.
Raja Sajad Khan, a tourist guide at Ladu Ladoora welcomed the decision of DC Baramulla to promote tourism in parts of Baramulla district.
He told Rising Kashmir that such initiatives of government and deputy commissioner Baramulla will not only boost tourism in the area but will provide economic avenues in the area.
