Srinagar, April 21: After the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are preparing to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, a festival that symbolizes the end of fasting and the beginning of festivities. In Jammu and Kashmir, this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, as the Shawwal moon has been sighted.

The decision was taken after the sighting of the moon by the Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nisar ul Islam. The announcement was greeted with delight by Muslims, who were looking forward to celebrating their religious festival with fervor and joy.

People in the region have started preparing for the festival well in advance; markets were flooded with people buying new clothes, sweets, and other things for Eid celebrations. It is customary for people to visit their friends and relatives and exchange gifts and greetings on the occasion of Eid. The celebration of Eid in Jammu and Kashmir is marked with great enthusiasm and joy.

Meanwhile, a large number of Muslims gathered at Jama Masjid in Srinagar today to offer last Friday’s prayers. The mosque was packed to capacity, with thousands of devotees offering their prayers together. Special prayers were offered for peace and prosperity in the region.

The Jama Masjid authorities have announced that Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The mosque administration has requested that people come to the mosque in large numbers to offer their prayers.

The government authorities have also made elaborate arrangements for the occasion. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are looking forward to celebrating Eid with great fervor and joy. The festival provides an opportunity for people to come together, exchange greetings and gifts, and pray for peace and prosperity.
