KULGAM, May 30: Continuing its crackdown on narcotics-related activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam have attached two residential properties worth more than Rs 1 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said a residential house valued at approximately ₹50 lakh belonging to Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, a resident of Kujjar Frisal in Yaripora, was attached after investigations revealed that the property had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from the illegal drug trade. The attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 10/2021 registered at Police Station Yaripora.
In a separate action, police attached a single-storey residential house worth around ₹52 lakh belonging to Feroze Ahmad Khan of Munnad, Yaripora. The property was allegedly acquired through proceeds from narcotics trafficking and was attached in connection with FIR No. 72/2023 registered at Police Station Behibagh.
Officials said the attachment proceedings were conducted under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act through the competent authority under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA).
The process was carried out in the presence of a duly constituted police team and an Executive Magistrate, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and transparency.
Police reiterated their commitment to combating the drug menace by targeting not only offenders but also assets generated through illegal narcotics activities. The public has been urged to share information related to drug trafficking and other narcotics-related offences.
