BUDGAM, May 25: Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi on Monday chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the upcoming holy month of Muharram and stressed the need for ensuring all essential facilities and developmental works in concerned areas well in time.
During the meeting, the MLA directed the administration to make comprehensive arrangements not only for the first ten days of Muharram but also for areas where mourning processions and religious gatherings continue beyond Ashura.
He emphasised that no inconvenience should be faced by the public during the holy days and asked the concerned departments to work in coordination to ensure uninterrupted electricity, drinking water supply, sanitation, healthcare, traffic regulation and road maintenance.
Aga Muntazir also directed officials to expedite pending developmental works and remain available on the ground to address public grievances promptly.
Describing Muharram as a period of great religious significance, he said the administration must ensure all possible support for mourners and devotees.
He also appealed to the public to maintain peace, discipline and communal harmony during the observance of Muharram.
