Kulgam, Oct 11:The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) on Wednesday executed a special Naka operation near the Chamgund Bridge in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district to crack whip on traffic violators.
An official said that the operation was geared towards enforcing road safety measures and ensuring compliance with vehicular documentation. The drive was led by the Assistant Regional Transport (ARTO) Kulgam Abrar Ahmad Kripak.
“A total of 80 vehicles underwent thorough scrutiny in the drive. In which, documentation for 35 vehicles was retained for further verification by the MVD Kulgam,” he said.
He said that MVD officials took stern action against the violators, issuing 8 on-the-spot Driving License suspension notices and 5 Registration Paper suspension notices to the violators.
“14 vehicles were flagged for blacklisting, conveying a resolute message that violations would not be taken lightly. A tractor was also impounded during the operation for being found unregistered,” he said.
He further added that, in terms of financial penalties, fines totalling 20,000 rupees were collected from the violators for their failure to abide by the rules.
