Bandipora, Sept 26: In a significant and long-awaited development for the remote border villages of Gurez valley in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, the process of macadamisation is now in full swing, bringing a ray of hope for improved infrastructure and connectivity to the border villages.

The District Administration along with Border Roads Organization have embarked on this much-needed project to enhance the quality of roads and pave the way for a brighter future in these isolated areas.

Speaking about the initiative, a resident of one of the border villages told Rising Kashmir that they have faced tremendous challenges due to the dilapidated roads for decades. “Now, with the macadamisation project underway, we can finally envision a safer and more prosperous Gurez”, he said.

Another local said that this is not just about roads it’s about connecting hearts and dreams. “The improved infrastructure will allow our children to access better education, and it will open up opportunities for trade that were previously unreachable”.

An official said that the macadamisation project is not limited to road construction alone. It also includes the installation of safety measures such as guardrails and road signs, which are crucial for the safety of both residents and travelers passing through these challenging terrains.

The official emphasized that the project will not only enhance transportation but also bolster the local economy by facilitating trade and tourism.

With the improved roadways, Gurez is expected to attract more visitors who will be able to explore its stunning landscapes, which have been hidden from the world for too long.
