Srinagar, Feb 11: Additional Director General of Police Armed Jammu & Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, chaired a preparatory meeting of officers today at the Conference Hall PCR Srinagar to review the arrangements for the 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023 – 24.
The championship is being hosted by the Jammu & Kashmir Police at the Back Lawn of SKICC Srinagar from March 2nd to 8.
During the meeting, the ADGP assessed all the arrangements and preparations made by the different committees to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
A total of 28 teams from different CAPFs & State Police, including 22 Men’s and 6 Women’s teams comprising 30 players each from across the country, are expected to participate in this Championship. More than 800 athletes from across the country will demonstrate their skills in Canoeing, Kayaking, and Rowing. The teams will be distributed into groups through drawing lots during a meeting with the managers & other technical officials on the 2nd of March.
The meeting focused on ensuring seamless organization and implementing safety protocols aimed at providing a smooth and enjoyable experience for all involved. The ADGP emphasized that even minor details related to the event’s conduct should be flawless and meticulously executed in all respects. He further directed the managing staff to ensure proper arrangements for the opening and closing ceremonies, emphasizing the need to make the event a grand success. Additionally, arrangements for sightseeing in different places were also discussed.
During the meeting, the ADGP thoroughly discussed the responsibilities entrusted to various committees for the smooth conduct of the event. Elaborate arrangements concerning security, traffic management, transportation, and accommodation for the participants were also deliberated upon. The availability of critical care ambulances with necessary equipment and doctors was highlighted. Furthermore, officers were instructed to ensure police presence in and around the venue to ensure the safety of participants and to maintain vigilance against any potential security threats.
Kuldeep Handoo, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sports) APHQ, briefed about the arrangements assigned to different officers for the successful conduct of the event.
