Srinagar, July 19: : Residents of the Qaimoh area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, have urged the Power Development Department (PDD) to relocate two electrical transformers that were installed prior to the boundary wall of the Government Higher Secondary School Qaimoh.Villagers told Rising Kashmir that the Government Higher Secondary School in their area accommodates 500 students from various villages, who are enrolled from 9th to 12th grades.”The transformers situated in front of the school’s boundary wall pose a significant danger to the students’ lives and the safety of the school buildings. If the government relocates these transformers to another site, it would enhance the security of the students and ensure the school building remains safe from fire hazards,” the locals stated.Syed Hussain, a local resident of Qaimoh said that students regularly attend classes at the school. He emphasised that the Power Development Department must relocate the transformers to a different location, allowing students to feel secure while in their classrooms.”The transformers were installed a long time ago before the school’s premises were established, as there was no alternative space available for their installation at that time. Parents have already raised this concern with both the school administration and the Power Development Department. It is imperative that this issue is addressed promptly,” he said.
