Srinagar, Jun 11: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday held an important organisational meeting, which began with paying tributes to Jammu and Kashmir’s “stalwart leader” Mirza Afzal Beg, father of senior party leader Mehboob Beg.
“The meeting served as both a moment of homage to late Mirza Mohammad Afzal Beg Sahib, a great son of the soil who stands tall in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir, and a significant strategic session aimed at reinvigorating the party’s district-level functioning,” the PDP said in a statement issued here.
The meeting was presided over by PDP Vice President Mohammad Sartaj Madni and attended by senior party leaders. General Secretary Mohammad Khursheed Alam presented the agenda, which focused on internal organisational strengthening, cadre mobilisation, and preparing the party for future electoral challenges.
All district presidents were present, including Mohammad Rafiq Rather (Baramulla), Ab Qayoom Bhat (Srinagar), Advocate Javaid Sahib (Anantnag), Syed Sajad (Bandipora), G. M. Mir Shahoori (Pulwama), Haji Mohiuddin Sahib (Shopian), Mohammad Yaseen (Budgam), Zaffarullah Sahib (Kulgam), and Zahoor Sahib (Ganderbal). They apprised the leadership of the ground realities, ongoing organisational efforts, and shared feedback from grassroots workers.
According to the statement, emphasis was laid on energising local units and ensuring the PDP remains deeply connected with the people’s concerns. A key point of discussion was the upcoming Municipality and Panchayat elections, for which all district presidents were directed to activate their cadres and prepare robust strategies for engagement.
Madni, addressing the meeting, said, “PDP has always stood as the voice of the people. Our strength lies in our unity and deep roots in every corner of Jammu & Kashmir. We must now gear up with full focus for the coming elections.”
He added, “The meeting marks the beginning of a renewed phase of political readiness. Every district has a role to play, and every worker must be active on the ground. The coming months are crucial for our collective mission.”
The meeting concluded with a strong message of organisational discipline, electoral preparation, and continued public outreach, the statement said.
