Jammu, April 16: In line with its commitment to continuous professional development, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has organised a two-day workshop for its State Skill Coaches, following last month’s session for physiotherapists. The event is being conducted from April 16 to 17 at the Hostel Ground, Jammu, under the guidance of the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE).
A total of 24 qualified coaches—both men and women—are participating in the workshop. All attendees hold Level 01 or Level 02 coaching certifications and are currently engaged with JKCA teams. The primary objective of the workshop is to further hone the skills of these coaches, enabling them to better mentor and develop young cricketers across the Union Territory.
In his inaugural address, Brig. Anil Gupta, Member Administration, JKCA, stated: “Each one of you has already walked the hard path of training, studying, and certifying your knowledge of cricket. You have chosen to be lifelong students of the game. You now play the roles of trainers, mentors, and motivators. At this camp, I urge you to challenge your own methods. Share openly. Learn from each other and the expert faculty. Because when you evolve, our players will evolve.”
He encouraged the participants to sharpen their expertise, expand their perspectives, and return to their respective teams as more capable and inspired coaches. The expert faculty from the CoE includes some of the finest professionals in the field, led by Sujith Somasundar, Head of Education at BCCI-CoE and a former distinguished cricketer. He is joined by Amit Asawa (Batting Faculty), Sanjay Mullasseri (Bowling Faculty) and Apurva Desai (Master Faculty). The sessions are supported by Sahil Magotra, Video Analyst at JKCA. The workshop underscores JKCA’s vision of fostering excellence through upskilling and collaboration within its coaching community.
