8 persons arrested for promoting terrorism, secessionist activities in Bandipora

Srinagar, Apr 10: In a major crackdown on separatist networks, Bandipora Police have arrested eight individuals affiliated with various proscribed organisations for promoting terrorism and secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesman said that the arrests were made as part of ongoing investigations into multiple FIRs registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Raids were conducted at several locations across the district to apprehend suspects involved in subversive activities, he said.
In connection with FIR No. 04/2024 of Police Station Bandipora, three members of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir were arrested including Nazir Ahmad Ahangar, S/o Late Abdul Khaliq Ahangar, R/o Shahgund Hajin, Sheikh Danish Mushtaq, S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, R/o Aloosa Bandipora, Tahir Ahmad Mir, S/o Late Habibullah Mir, R/o Ward 2, Plan Bandipora
In connection with FIR Nos. 07 and 62/2024 of Police Station Sumbal, three individuals were arrested. They have been identified as Ghulam Din War, S/o Habib Ullah War, R/o Naidkhai – affiliated with Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), Khursheed Ahmad Lone, S/o Mohammad Jamal Lone, R/o Naidkhai, Mohammad Shafi Dar, S/o Sonaullah Dar, R/o Karnai Mohalla Shahgund – both affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL)
The spokesman said that moreover, in connection with FIR No. 06/2024 of Police Station Hajin, two persons were arrested Abdul Majeed Gojri, S/o Ghulam Mohammad Gojri, R/o Vigpara, Abdul Majeed Lone, S/o Mohammad Maqbool Lone, R/o Vigpara Hajin – both members of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat JK.
“During the operations, the police also recovered objectionable material, pamphlets, and electronic devices including mobile phones from the arrested individuals,” he added.
“Investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals continued to promote terrorist and secessionist activities in J&K, despite the fact that their affiliated outfits have been banned under the UAPA. They were found to be actively involved in motivating youth and recruiting new members (Rukuns) to further their radical agenda,”
A police spokesperson stated that these arrests reflect the force’s ongoing efforts to dismantle extremist networks in the Valley.
“Bandipora Police remain committed to maintaining peace and security in the district. Any individual found furthering the agenda of violence, disruption, or unlawful activities will face strict legal consequences,” he said.
