Srinagar, March 25: The Government of India has sanctioned four sports infrastructure projects under the Khelo India Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir during 2018-19, with a total fund allocation of Rs 14.75 crore. Of this, Rs 13.67 crore has been spent so far, with two projects completed and two still in progress.

Completed Projects:
Synthetic hockey turf at Polo Ground, Srinagar (Rs 533.61 lakh)

Synthetic hockey turf at K.K. Hakku Stadium, Jammu (Rs 539.78 lakh)
Ongoing projects:
Synthetic athletic track at Tulibal Sopore, Baramulla

Indoor sports hall at Shalinar, Budgam (Rs 294.11 lakh)

The information was shared in response to a question raised by legislator Sheikh Khursheed Ahmed in the Assembly, specifically regarding funds allocated under the Khelo India Scheme for Langate constituency. The government clarified that Khelo India is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented state-wide, not at the constituency level. Hence, no specific project has been sanctioned for Langate under this scheme. However, under the Capex Budget, Rs 191.25 lakh has been allocated for sports infrastructure in Langate, including—playfield at Pandithpora Langate (Rs 85.02 lakh), playfield at Ashpora (Rs 23.13 lakh), playfield at Kutlari Mawer (Rs 11.96 lakh), football ground at Kulangam (Rs 12.00 lakh), open-air gym at Kulangam (under execution) (Rs 20.00 lakh) and roller skating facility at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Langate (Rs 39.14 lakh)
The Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma assured that more projects will be taken up for Langate in the future to further enhance sports infrastructure in the area.
