Jammu, Mar 24: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said there are five road projects in Dacchan and Drabshalla for which land compensation totalling Rs 22.70 crore remains unpaid in the Kishtwar Constituency.
Responding to a question posed by MLA Shagun Parihar during the Assembly session, the Minister in charge of Revenue said the pending compensation pertains to these five road projects.
The minister clarified that there are no specific cases of land compensation awaiting disbursement related to power projects in Drabshalla and Dachhan Tehsil. However, in certain instances, disputes over land titles among co-owners have resulted in Rs 2.24 crore being withheld.
Additionally, from the total awarded amount of Rs 12.94 crore for four villages—Chichha, Sounder, Lopara, and Kharipakhnoo—Rs 8.12 crore has already been distributed to the rightful claimants, while Rs 4.82 crore is currently being processed for payment.
“The government is addressing grievances through various mechanisms such as the JK-Grievance Cell, JK Samadhan, and CM Raabta. Moreover, grievance redressal camps are periodically organized by the Deputy Commissioner, Collector of Land Acquisition, and the relevant Tehsildar in the affected areas to listen to and resolve the concerns of landowners,” the minister added.
