Srinagar, Mar 18: National Conference (NC) President, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to Mufassir-e-Qur’an, Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Shah (RA), recognising his “immense and selfless” contributions to the field of Islamic theology and Kashmiri language.
Dr Farooq highlighted Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah’s invaluable contributions, particularly his groundbreaking translation and commentary of the holy Qur’an into Kashmiri, which has served as a pillar of spiritual guidance in the region.
“His pioneering efforts not only made the sacred teachings more accessible to the Kashmiri-speaking population but also strengthened the cultural identity of the community thus solidifying his legacy as a revered figure in religious and literary circles,” Dr Farooq said.
Party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq also paid tributes to late Moulana Mohammad Yousuf Shah.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Abdullah and NC Vice President & Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah expressed heartfelt condolences over the demise of Khalida Begum, wife of Bashir Ahmad Wani of Khonakhan Dalgate, currently residing at Madina Colony Kralpora.
The duo extended their sympathies to the grieving family, especially to Arif Shafi Wani, the Executive Editor of Greater Kashmir, who is the deceased’s nephew. They prayed for peace for the departed soul in the highest realms of Jannat and for strength for the family during this challenging time.
Dr Farooq and Omar expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Dawood Naqshbandhi, the son of renowned businessman Alhaj Fayaz Ahmad Shah Naqshbandhi. The party president personally reached out to the family over the phone to offer his condolences and sympathies. Senior party leaders also expressed condolences.
