Srinagar, Mar 17: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) on Monday said the party is committed to pro-people policies and the protection of regional aspirations within the framework of the Indian Constitution and its vision for inclusive development.
He extended a warm welcome to former MLA Mansoor Hussain Suharwardy and former MLC Yasir Reshi as they rejoined the party fold.
Zaffer in a statement said, “The PDP had weathered systematic attempts to undermine its foundation, with key political figures previously compelled to depart.”
“As the political landscape gradually stabilises, leaders who once worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti are returning to their political home. This resurgence will strengthen the party’s foundation with each passing day,” he said.
Championing the cause of peace, progress and societal well-being, the PDP leader underscored that the party remains the preeminent platform representing the aspirations of the people across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Zaffer urged the Government of India and all national political entities to recognise Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of the country—a region that has endured tremendous turmoil over the past three and a half decades. “The time has come for healing wounds, restoring dignity, and fully reintegrating Jammu and Kashmir into the nation’s journey toward collective progress and prosperity,” he said.
