Jammu, Mar 13: The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday said that the digitization of the last Jamabandi has been completed in 6,838 out of the total 6,850 revenue villages in the Union Territory.
The information was provided in response to an unstarred question by Nizam-Ud-Din, MLA Bandipora, who sought the present status of revenue record digitization.
In a written response, the Minister in charge of Revenue said, “J&K has a total of 6,850 revenue villages, and digitization of the last Jamabandi has been completed in 6,838 villages.”
The minister further said that the process of verification and correction of the last Jamabandi is ongoing on the JK Revenue Plus portal. “Till date, more than 1 lakh errors (mostly typographical) have been detected and are being rectified,” the response read.
When asked whether the department provides designated accommodation for Patwaris in each Halqa along with separate record rooms, the minister stated, “Patwaris have been provided accommodation in Patwar Khanas and government buildings in most cases. They have been equipped with modern electronic gadgets, i.e., mobile tablets, for better service delivery.”
Regarding record rooms, the minister said, “Record rooms are maintained at both the divisional and district headquarters/tehsils, which will be modernized when funds are made available under the DILRMP scheme of the Government of India.”
Responding to a query about the total number of Patwar Halqas in the Bandipora constituency and whether they have been considered for these facilities, the minister said, “There are 15 Patwar Halqas in Bandipora constituency. All Patwaris have been equipped with tablets for record-keeping and handling online services. However, no separate record rooms are available in the Patwar Halqas, as the record rooms are maintained at the district headquarters, tehsil level, and divisional level.”
