Trivandrum, Mar 09: Right-arm leg spinner, Ananaya Sharma displayed extraordinary spinning skills to take 4 important wickets and guide Jammu and Kashmir to convincing victory by 6 wickets over minnows Mizoram in the ongoing Women’s U-23 One Day Trophy at St Xavier’s KCA Cricket Stadium, Trivandrum today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Mizoram bundled out for a paltry total of 54 runs in 27.4 overs. Nunmawii was the only batter to cross the double figure mark, scoring 12 runs off 28 balls studded with 2 fours, while the other batters failed to show any application against the disciplined bowling of J&K bowlers. Ananaya Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for Jammu and Kashmir, who took 4 wickets by conceding 15 runs in her 6.4 overs, while Speedster Mariya Noorain bagged 2 wickets by giving away 5 runs in her 5 overs. Ronak Jahan and skipper Rudrakshi Chib claimed one wicket each.
In reply, J&K chased the target easily in 9.4 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus winning the match by 6 wickets. Chitra Singh Jamwal top scored with 18 runs off 16 balls studded with 4 boundaries, while skipper Rudrakshi contributed unbeaten 11 runs with 2 fours. For Mizoram, Zdi took 2 wickets while Jacinta and Sandhia claimed one wicket each. J&K has played three matches so far in this tournament and registered victories against formidable Jharkhand and minnows Mizoram, while it lost against strong Uttar Pradesh.
