Jammu, Feb 26: As part of the annual Maha Shivratri celebrations, a grand mela was held at the Aap Shambhoo Temple, Khoon, attracting thousands of devotees who gathered to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
The event not only celebrated religious fervour but also served as a platform for public awareness, with various government departments setting up stalls to inform people about key welfare schemes such as PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) – PMAY (G), Swachh Bharat Mission, Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme and Ujjwala Yojana.
Addressing the gathering, Pathania said such events go beyond spiritual observances—they align with the larger vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.
“This is a time to realise our ‘Sankalp Pe Siddhi’—turning our resolutions into reality for a prosperous and progressive future. India is set to become a global economic superpower, ranking among the top three economies. The doubling of farmers’ income, universal insurance coverage, and inclusive growth will soon be achieved,” he said.
The BJP leader said that festivals like Maha Shivratri symbolise unity, strength, and national development, proving that culture and progress can go hand in hand.
The mela was organised by DAHWA (Devotional and Heritage Welfare Association), under the leadership of Chairman Surat Singh, who managed the proceedings.
Pathania said such events not only strengthen the cultural and spiritual fabric of society but also spread awareness about developmental initiatives, ensuring a more informed, empowered and united community.
