Srinagar, Feb 14 :J&K Pradesh Congress Committee(JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra Strongly condemning the lock down of Jamia Masjid on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.

Tariq Hameed Karra today said that putting Jamia Masjid under lock on the sacred night of Shab-e-Baraat reflects the lack of confidence with respect to the claims that are being made by the Govt day in and day out on the security front.

Karra said that public sentiments are badly hurt by the Govt action, one fails to understand as to what forced the authorities to lock down Jamia on Shab-e-Baraat, if they(authorities) are not confident then why there are claims that everything is going normal.

“The Government should think seriously about such measures, which certainly create an atmosphere of discord leading to the disillusionment amongst the public.”he said.

Tariq Karra termed the action as very unfortunate and urged the Govt to revisit it’s policy of banning the public from performing their religious obligations, from time to time, as such measures are neither in the public interest nor in the interest of peace initiatives or confidence building measures.
