Srinagar, Dec 15: District Administration Bandipora on Sunday restricted the movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) on the Gurez-Bandipora road due to recent snowfall and deteriorating road conditions.
An official said that to ensure the safety of travelers and maintain road usability under challenging weather conditions, HMVs such as trucks, tippers, and buses are prohibited from plying on this route until further notice.
He said that only specific types of vehicles, including SUMO, Scorpio, 207, Gypsy, and 4×4 vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains, will be allowed to operate on the Gurez-Bandipora road.
He urged travelers to comply with the order and exercise caution while driving on the road, emphasizing the importance of preparedness during the winter season.
The administration is closely monitoring the situation and will reassess the restrictions based on weather conditions and road safety reports, the official said adding that Travelers are advised to stay updated with official announcements for any changes.
