Pulwama, Feb 27: Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission(JKRLM) is close to achieving the set targets for the current financial year in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Authorities of JK RLM told Rising Kashmir that they have achieved around 80 percent targets in the formation of Self Help Groups ( SHG) across various areas of Pulwama for the current year.
“Mobilisation and SHG formation are being carried out on grass roots level intensively and we are hopeful to achieve the set target in Pulwama by 10th  of March, 2024” District Manager, JK RLM Pulwama, Arshid Ahmad Bhat, said.
He said that around 38,000 women have been empowered by formation of 3800 self-help groups in the district.
“This year we registered around 1063 new groups,” Bhat said, adding that 8 producer groups, 1 FPO (Farmer Producer Organisation) and 15,000 agri-nutrition gardens were registered  in the district this year.
The official informed that during this year they imparted training on cultivation and processing of Lavender through LEDP( Livelihood Enterprise Development Programme) in convergence mode with NABARD ( National  Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development).
He said that the SHG members took part in the Meri Matti Mera Desh campaign and provided around 8000 earthen lamps and 3000 pitchers to the administration for celebrating the campaign.
“Besides our SHG members  prepared around 1000 national flags,” he said, adding that they organised various training sessions for upskilling their SHG members.
He said that the skill oriented training was carried out under PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kushal Vikas Yojana) and in convergence with other institutions.
The official said that the formation of SHGs helped in transforming the lives of a significant number of women across the district.
“Many women associated with various SHG’s in Pulwama scripted inspirational success stories which were highly appreciated at local, UT and national level,” he said, adding that the transformation is visible in Gujjar Basti Lassipora, Owrigund Tral, Konibal Pampore and Honipora Banagund.
Bhat said that they have looped the households in NRLM and we  ensure their  capacity building before livelihood formation, financial inclusion and social development.
