Jammu, Dec 02: Teamwork helped Jammu and Kashmir outplay formidable Maharashtra in a tough contest, while Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jharkhand blanked opponents by big margins as twenty-eight matches were played on day-3 of the ongoing 68th National School Games in the discipline of Football U-17 Boys, being organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Sainik School Nagrota and Khel Gaon Nagrota near here.
Jammu and Kashmir registered a convincing victory over strong Maharashtra by three goals to one (3-1) in a tough contest. The goal scorers for Jammu and Kashmir were Aayan Bilal, who scored 2 goals and Muzamil Lateef who netted one.
At Ground-1, Manipur drubbed IPSC by two goals to one (2-1); Delhi trounced CISE by two goals to nil (2-0); Assam defeated Lakshadweep by two goals to one (2-1); West Bengal thrashed KVS by eight goals to one (8-1).
At Ground No-2 of Sainik School Nagrota, Madhya Pradesh outplayed Telangana by two goals to nil (2-0); Meghalaya drubbed CBSE by 5 goals to nil (5-0); Karnataka blanked DNHDD by six goals to nil (6-0) and Punjab got the better of Manipur by two goals to nil (2-0)
At Ground-3 of Sainik School Nagrota, Uttarakhand beat Gujarat by a solitary goal (1-0); Tripura defeated Himachal Pradesh by one goal to nil (1-0); Kerala trounced IBSO by three goals to nil (3-0) and Vidya Bharati thrashed Telangana by eight goals to nil (8-0).
At Ground-4 of Sainik School Nagrota, Maharashtra defeated Tamil Nadu in a close contest by a solitary goal (1-0) and Bihar beat Rajasthan by one zero (1-0); Uttar Pradesh held Chandigarh to (1-1) draw and Madhya Pradesh defeated Gujarat by three goals to nil (3-0)
At Ground-5 Khel Gaon Nagrota, Arunachal Pradesh crushed CBSE WSO by fourteen goals to nil (14-0); Jharkhand blanked Andhra Pradesh by eight goals to nil (8-0) and Jammu & Kashmir beat Maharashtra by three goals to one (3-1).
At Ground-6 Khel Gaon Nagrota, Punjab thrashed KVS by six goals to nil (6-0); Haryana blanked Puducherry by twelve goals to nil (12-0) and Tamil Nadu defeated CBSE WSO by seven goals to three (7-3).
Meanwhile, as part of the historic series of the 68th National School Games in four sports disciplines, the mega soccer event is being held under the patronage of Minister for Sports, Satish Sharma; Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez and under the chairmanship of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara.
In this month-long series of 68th National School Games three events of Judo, Fencing and Wushu have already been completed and the fourth one that’s Football
U-17 Boys & Girls is in progress. Over 4000 athletes and officials have participated in these games.
