68th National School Games U-17 Boys Judo: Ridhum of J&K wins silver; Yumnam, Nitin, Parekh bag gold

Jammu, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir won a maiden medal with a silver bagged by Ridhum, while the gold medals were claimed by Nitin Balhara of Madhya Pradesh, Yumnam Yohenba of Manipur and Parekh Mitkumar of Gujarat in different weight categories of the ongoing 68th National School Games in the discipline of Judo U-17 Boys at Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar, here.

Earlier, J&K’s Ridhum entered the second round after Vinay of Goa was disqualified, then he toppled Sarrvesh of Puducherry to enter the third round. In the third round, Ridhum got the better of Aryan of Kendriya Vidyalaya and defeated Vaibhav of Punjab in the semifinals. However, Ridhum lost to Yumnam of Manipur in the finals to claim the silver medal in 60 kgs category. The bronze medals were bagged by Vinay Acharya of Rajasthan and Kapil Damai of Chandigarh.

In 55 kgs category, Nitin Balhara of Madhya Pradesh clinched gold, while Akash Khatri of Delhi bagged silver and the bronze medal in this category went to Aarush Dutta of CBSE and Motam Dutta.

The gold medal in 80 kgs category was clinched by Parekh Mitkumar of Gujarat, while the silver in this category went to Huidrom of Manipur. Ashmit Mugra of CBSE and Ashwin Bharadwaj of Rajasthan claimed bronze medals in this weight category.

The medals were presented to the winners by Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Ved Prakash in presence of a galaxy of dignitaries from the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS)
