Srinagar, Nov 02: Scientist-farmer interaction cum seed distribution program was organised by KVK Srinagar in association with the Department of Agriculture Srinagar at Theed Harwan on 31 October 2024.
The event witnessed the participation of more than 100 farmers besides scientist from the kendra (Dr.R. A Wani & Dr. R Malik) ,several Extension officers namely AEO Brein/Harwan alongwith Extension functionaries namely Muzain, Anjum and Nusrat etc. among others by officers from Horticulture and Animal Husbandry Department.
The proceedings of the program started with inaugural remarks by Dr S.A.Simnani who presented a brief extension , vocational and skill development activities being conducted by the KVK for social, economic upliftment of the our farming community through Vocational & Skill Development trainings, Demonstration, Seed and dissemination of latest improvised Productions technological intervention.
On the occasion PI of the Seed Project Prof. MA Bhat imparted technical know-how and methodology for production farmer’s own seed for self pollinated as well as cross pollinated crops with major impetus on seed & fodder production of rabi crops(Oilseed & Oats) in light of nutrients management practices for different purposes respectively. He also stressed the need For periodical seed replacement to augment their farm production and income.
Head KVK informed the gathering that the program was a part of PMs’ National Farmer-agriculture expert meet scheduled on last Thursday of every month. A vibrant scientist- farmer interaction and Seed distribution of Shalimar Fodder Oats-1 among the farmers of the area were the highlights of the day long program.
