Ganderbal, Nov 08: In an inspiring display of commitment to social welfare, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan organized an Awareness Programme on “Save Girl Child and Child Labor” at Government Higher Secondary School Hariganiwan, under the directive of Secretary District Legal Service Authority Ganderbal, Mrs. Nusrat Ali Hakak, and with the guidance of Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan, Easar-Ul-Nabi.
The event, held as part of ongoing Legal Services Week, saw a multitude of participants, including the Chief Guest and Chairman of Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan, ICDS Officer Kangan, the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Hariganiwan, faculty members, Anganwadi workers, staff members and PLVs of TLSC Kangan, teachers and students from various educational institutions, and members of the general public. ST Wing UT President Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Khatana, also graced the occasion with his presence.
During the event, ICDS Officer Kangan emphasized the vital role that women play in society and stressed the importance of treating girls with equality, love, and respect. Advocate Sajad Ahmad Khan, the resource person for the awareness program, provided a legal perspective on the topic and highlighted the constitutional protections in place for the girl child. He raised awareness about the alarming statistic of approximately 5 lakh feticides of girl children in India annually, attributing this to the rising crimes against females in society.
The Chief Guest and Chairman of Tehsil Legal Committee Kangan spoke passionately about the significance of the girl child, emphasizing that they are a gift from Almighty God. He urged parents to provide the best education and moral guidance to girls, preparing them to play pivotal roles in shaping society. He underscored the importance of involving girls in decision-making processes and stressed that both men and women are equally responsible for the survival of the human race, making it essential to protect and empower the girl child for the betterment of society.
This exemplary awareness program has shed light on the critical issues of saving the girl child and eradicating child labor, reaffirming the commitment of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan towards creating a more equitable and just society.
