Srinagar, Sept 17: The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) organized its first-ever Principal’s Conclave, the inauguration of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) Cell Network, and a Continuing Medical Education (CME) event. Principals from medical colleges across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh participated in this landmark event.
Prof. Shiv Kumar Sarin, President of NAMS, served as the chief guest, with Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Administrative Secretary of Health & Medical Education J&K, as guest of honor, and Dr. M. Ashraf Ganie, Director of SKIMS, as chief host.
Dr. Shah emphasized the need for institutions to address gaps in patient care, research, and academics. Dr. Ganie, who chaired the conclave, expressed gratitude to Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, and Dr. Shah for their support. The event featured discussions on a strategic plan to enhance healthcare infrastructure, with contributions from various medical college principals. A white paper on healthcare improvement is to be submitted to the government.
The NAMS J&K Ladakh Network was officially inaugurated by Prof. Sarin, who highlighted NAMS’s initiatives in research and academic collaboration. The CME event focused on antimicrobial stewardship with experts sharing insights on best practices.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Aiffa Aiman, appreciating the contributions of all participants.
