Srinagar, Sept 13: Senior leader of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Imtiyaz Ali Banday Friday announced his resignation as the party’s State Secretary.
In his resignation, Banday explained that the decision was not made lightly but came after careful deliberation with his supporters and party workers from the Poonch Assembly Constituency.
He highlighted his role in establishing the PDP’s foothold in the Pir Panjal region, particularly by significantly boosting the party’s vote share in the 2014 elections.
Expressing discontent, Banday criticized the PDP leadership for what he described as a “betrayal of democracy” and straying from the founding values of public service, peace, and accountability, set by the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He voiced concern that the party had become disconnected from the needs of the people.
