Kupwara lifts UT Level Inter District U-19 Cricket Tournament

Anantnag, Sep 12: District Kupwara lifts the title of UT Level Inter District U-19 Cricket Tournament by defeating District Kulgam by 28 runs in the final match played on Thursday here BHSS ground Bijbehara Anantnag.
Earlier, while batting first Kupwara set the target of 128 runs, in which Shoib Ahad scored 33 runs, Mohd Umair scored 28 runs and Faizan Khurshid scored 23 runs as highest. From Kulgam side Waris Zargar clinched four wicket hauls.
In reply Kulgam failed to chase the target and lost the match by 29 runs. Thus, Kupwara lifts the title of the tournament by 28 runs and emerged as Champion team of the tournament. From Kulgam side Waris Rashid was the highest scorer with 26 runs. From Kupwara side Zubair Sultan and Danish Ali clinched 3 wickets each & Mohd Umair clinched 2 wickets.
On the post-match presentation Ceremony, DYSSO Kulgam Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori was the chief guest along with other officials of YSS Department Anantnag and Kulgam respectively. The DYSSO Kulgam Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori in his address during the closing ceremony, highlighted the broader impact of sports, not just as games but as activities that promote fitness and steer people away from negative influences.
Later, he gave away the Winners, Runner up and best performers Trophies to teams and players.
The Tournament was organized on league cum knockout format basis, which ensured equal opportunity to all 16 players of every participating team of the tournament to showcase their Cricketing talent. The tournament witnessed the enthusiastic participation of players across the 9 districts of Kashmir. The tournament was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K and was hosted by DYSSO Anantnag on four different venues in district Anantnag.
