Srinagar, Sept 11: Member of Parliament (MP) Lok Sabha Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Wednesday said that Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) president Engineer Rashid’s release will not affect his party National Conference’s agenda or its “fight” for Jammu & Kashmir’s rights.
Speaking to media persons at north Kashmir’s Sopore during a rally, Ruhullah said Er Rashid won’t impact the NC’s narrative. “The National Conference is focused on securing freedom for all prisoners and fighting for the future of J&K, unlike parties that have aligned with the BJP,” he said.
Aga further said that while Engineer Rashid’s appeal may draw attention, it is rooted in personal sympathy rather than a “broader fight” for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. “We respect the sympathy, but our struggle is for thousands of prisoners and the rights of J&K’s people,” he said
The MP accused the BJP of making efforts to divide votes in Kashmir and consolidate its position in Jammu. “The people of Kashmir will not fall for this tactic,” he said. “The BJP is trying to weaken our unity, but the voters of Kashmir will cast their ballots wisely for a brighter future.”
