Inaugurates KoshurRaag’s Musical Harmony event at Srinagar
Urges celebration of diversity in art, culture, & literature
Srinagar, July 06: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the ‘Musical Harmony’ event organized by KoshurRaag, in association with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, at Srinagar today.
In his address, Lt Governor Sinha called upon the people to celebrate the diversity in art, culture, and literature, emphasizing that it is the source of India’s greatness. “Art and culture connect and inspire society. It should be seen as a thread connecting the past with the future,” he said.
The Lt Governor urged artists to affirm and promote the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. “It should be our resolve to make the priceless artistic heritage of J&K prosperous and elevate it to the global stage,” he added. He commended KoshurRaag for its efforts to promote Kashmiri cultural heritage through music and other art forms.
“India’s culture is rich and diverse and has always guided society to embrace and celebrate cultural roots to fulfill their dreams and aspirations,” the Lt Governor said. On the occasion, he felicitated artists who have made significant contributions in their respective fields and highlighted their important role in spreading messages of unity, harmony, and peace in society.
The musical evening featured soulful performances by maestros such as PanditAbhayRustumSopori, Munir Ahmad Mir, SunayanaKachroo, and other legendary and young artists from Jammu and Kashmir.
The event was attended by AtalDulloo, Chief Secretary; Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Culture Department; ArvindMattoo, Founder of KoshurRaag; senior officials, members of KoshurRaag, and eminent artists from Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent citizens, including Padma ShriDr. SP Varma and Dr.Farooq Abdullah, former Member of Parliament, were also present.
