Srinagar, May 20: Sher Zaman, a resident of the Mawer area of Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, who is in his 80s, has never wasted his vote in the past 55 years. He believes that casting ballots is the only way to make sure that the right and deserving candidate wins.
“I think since the day I became eligible to vote, I have never missed polling in my entire life. I don’t know exactly, but I think I have been participating in the polls for the last 55 years now,” Zaman said after casting his vote at the polling booth set up at Sanzipora Langate.
“Though I don’t favour any candidate or pin hope on them, I believe that casting a ballot is my right and I should never miss it till I am alive,” Zaman said.
He added, “We are facing multiple issues here. We still lack the facilities, but we have always been disappointed by the candidates, who we supported in the past. I have no hopes for anyone, but performed my duty today by casting the ballot.”
Zaman despite being an aged person, had reached the polling station all alone with enthusiasm to cast his ballot like the past. (KNO)
