66th National School Games: About 100 Students flagged-off to participate in Inter-Divisional competitions at Jammu

Srinagar May 28:  The Department of Youth Services and Sports has speeded up the process of selecting student players from the UT in different games as the School Games Federation of India (SGFI)  is hosting School Nationals in different sports from 6th of June.
Pertinently on Sunday the Department deputed divisional level teams in different games for their further participation in the UT level completions at Jammu. These include Badminton and Table tennis 5 each from the girls and boys section in both the games. Football 18 boys, Hockey 18 boys, Judo 6 boys and 2 girls, Boxing 9 boys and 4 girls, volleyball 12 each in boys and girls category. These competitions are taking place for U/19 age group categories in both Boys & Girls.
 
Subash C Chhibber Director of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) along with Waseem Raja Joint Director Kashmir of the Department flagged-off a contingent of student players along with their escorting officials from the Sports Complex Wazirbagh here. 
District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Srinagar was also present on this occasion. The divisional level selected volleyball team is composed of the students of different educational institutions of Kashmir division. The team is scheduled to participate in the inter divisional/ UT level competition with the players of Jammu division. 
The final team shall participate in the National level event being organised in the game at Bhopal MP from 10th to 13th June 2023.
Pertinently the Department of YSS has already selected and deputed more than 300 girls and boys which includes today’s contingents as well for their participation in different games on the same pattern.  While sharing the details, JD Kashmir has said that about 100 girls and boys were flagged-off on Sunday from the division to participate in the UT level competitions of various games at Jammu. 
 
The School Games Federation of India is going to conduct 66th National School Games (2022-23) backlog in Swimming, Basketball, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Yoga, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Shooting, Chess, Handball, Gymnastics and other games in the age group of under 19 years (Boys & Girls) after a gap of three years.
 
Director of the Department while sharing his best wishes with the players has said that the UT level competitions are going on in Athletics, Boxing, Hockey, Badminton, Football, Judo and Table Tennis (U-19 Boys & Girls)  at Jammu and the selected players shall participate in these sports disciplines at National level at Bhopal w.e.f 6th to 13th of June-2023 and at Gwalior from 8th to 12th of June 2023 respectively.
