Baramulla, Apr 10: Secretary Tourism and Culture, Dr Syed Aabid Rasheed Shah on Monday participated in a Gram Sabha at Kanispora Panchayat-A and interacted with the people and listened to their developmental aspirations.
Special Gram Sabha meetings were organised in all panchayats of the district with an aim to achieve sustainable development of villages, wherein the concerned stakeholders including PRIs, Prabhari Officers, heads of line departments, frontline workers among other prominent sections of the society ensured enthusiastic participation.
The Gram Sabha meetings were aimed to discuss and finalize Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) wherein the line departments presented their respective development plans for socio-economic development of our panchayats.
Addressing the function, Shah, who is also the Prabhari Officer under Back to Village Programme, urged upon all the officers and field functionaries of Rural Development Department to work in tandem for smooth implementation of Gram Panchayat Development Plan ensuring holistic development of the district.
He elaborated that the objective of holding the session was to shape the already made GPDP of panchayats in the district which shall touch the development of economy, status and living standard of the people. He asked the participants to think beyond common works like protection bunds and drains and make innovative ways for effective development of the villages.
Dr Syed Abid also highlighted the role of PRIs and other functionaries in resource mobilization. He said that several initiatives are being taken up to make our panchayats self reliant in terms of national goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
