Jammu, Oct 14: The 34th Jammu district volleyball championship was declared open Friday by Mamta Sharma, SP South Jammu at M. A Stadium Jammu. According to a statement, 10 boy’s teams and six girls teams are participating in the championship.
SidharthDaluja, president of the Volleyball Association of J&K along with S. Manmeet Singh, president Jammu District Volleyball Association and other dignitaries presented memento to the chief guest Mamta Sharma.
KuldeepMagotra, the CEO; Vijay Magotra, General Secretary; Romesh Sharma, Treasurer Volleyball Association of J&K; Rajiv Dogra, Sr. SAI volleyball coach; ManpreetKour, VeenaKumari, Akbar Ali, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Naresh Kumar were present at the opening ceremony of the championship.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest Mamta Sharma lauded the efforts of the organizers/ association for promoting sports in general and volleyball in particular to shun the menace of drug abuse.
Her father Subash Sharma also accompanied her during the opening ceremony of the District Volleyball Championship who has also remained a stalwart volleyball player of his times.
In the opening match of boys section Stadium B won against Nagrota volleyball club by 2-0 sets. SidharthDaluja honoured the winning team Stadium B with cash prize Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 to the best player of the ‘Stadium B’ team namely Sunil Sharma.
H.S Gill, Secretary Jammu District Volleyball Association in his speech welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion and also highlighted the District Volleyball Association activities for promoting the volleyball in Jammu district.
