Srinagar, Dec 31: Genius Football School League kick-started here with an aim to “keep youngsters busy with sports to prevent them from drugs”.
The inaugural football match of the league, organized in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, was witnessed by hundreds of students from various schools in Srinagar.
As per the Genius carrier consultancy Paraypora Srinagar, the inaugural event witnessed an overwhelming response from the athletes. The event was inaugurated by Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul.
The aim of organizing such events is to keep young people busy with sports as a large number of youth are getting involved in the drug menace, the League said in a statement. The event is sponsored by Edureka Learning Center, Mission e, Cure and Care Clinic, and the HKBK Group of Institutions.
“Such sports events need to be appreciated,” a football player said, adding, “In present times, a large number of people are indulging in drugs, and sports is the only thing that keeps youth away at bay from the menace.”
The purpose of organizing the sports event was to give youth a platform where they could show their skills, said one of the organizers.
On the occasion, Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul said the department regularly conducts sports activities across the Kashmir Valley, and a large number of youth are taking part in different sports categories.
