Srinagar, Sep 15: In order to curb underage driving and adherence to the traffic rules, City Traffic Police authorities on Thursday said that they are working on multiple fronts and that they have also aligned various educational institutions for imparting awareness among the students.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) City Traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah told Rising Kashmir that the awareness campaign is an ongoing process for which they have held many awareness programmes and events at many educational institutions in the city but to curb underage driving their department is working on multiple fronts.
“The purpose of the awareness programmes and events is specially to curb on underage driving for which the Traffic department is working on many fronts. Alongside the enforcement, we have ongoing road safety activities and also awareness campaigns which include dissemination of traffic rules and regulation through programmes and event”, SSP Traffic Srinagar said.
SSP Traffic City said that on average they seize around 50-60 two-wheelers in a day that are without documents or ridden by minors, saying that the campaign is going to continue he also stressed upon the parents not to give vehicles or two-wheelers to their underage children.
“Parents have responsibilities as well, enforcement is always there, but parents should also educate their children on driving or riding safety norms and should encourage them to follow the traffic rules as well”, he said.
In a response to a question about the happening of stunts by bikers, he said that there are some areas of the city specially foreshore road where stunts by bikers are reported and they have been counseling them and are identifying them through social media handles where they upload stunt videos.
