Zojila Pass to remain closed from Jan 11-13 due to icy conditions and road maintenance

The Traffic Police of Ladakh has issued a public notice informing commuters, drivers, and tourists that the Kargil-Srinagar National Highway (Zojila Pass) will remain closed for traffic from January 11 to January 13, 2025. The decision has been taken due to icy road conditions caused by inclement weather and to facilitate maintenance work by road maintenance agencies.

According to an order from the Traffic Police Ladakh It is hereby informed to the General Public of UT-Ladakh especially commuters/ drivers and tourists that traffic on the Kargil-Srinagar National Highway (Zojila Pass) shall remain suspended due to icy road conditions.

In view of inclement weather whereby a maintenance work on the road shall be carried out by the concerned road maintaining agencies from 11th January to 13″h January 2025.

Traffic shall resume on the said highway on 14″ of January 2025 subject to weather conditions. Keeping in view the inclement weather conditions and scheduled road maintenance, commuters/ passengers are advised to restrict their journeys till “GREEN” signal from the concerned road maintaining agendes, in order to avoid inconvenience as well as any untoward incident while travelling, the order reads.

Further commuters/ passengers are advised to undertake journey on the above mentioned route only after confirming the status of the road from Police Control Room and Traffic

Meanwhile DSP Traffic Leh confirmed that Zojila Road will remain closed from 11 to 13 January due to some maintenance work and icy road conditions
