Srinagar, Aug 04: An Inter-college debate competition on the theme ‘Empowering Young Minds for a Developed India’ was organised Monday at Sri Pratap College, Srinagar, under the aegis of the Viksit Bharat-2047 Yuva Connect Programme, sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.As per a statement issued here, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Mobeen, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar, was the chief guest on the occasion. While delivering an inspiring inaugural speech, he emphasized the role of youth in shaping a developed and progressive India. In her address, Dr. Seema Naz, Dean Academic affairs, Cluster University Srinagar, passionately advocated for youth empowerment and warned against the rising menace of drug abuse. She urged the students to channel their energy into nation-building activities, academic excellence, and social responsibility, rather than falling prey to destructive habits. Prof. (Dr.) B.A. Sheikh, Principal of S.P. College, spoke about nurturing responsible and empowered youth who are prepared to lead the nation into a progressive future. Prof. Mir Khusru led the audience in the solemn oath-taking ceremony for the Viksit Bharat Pledge. The debate competition, featuring 16 talented participants from various colleges, was evaluated by a panel of distinguished jury members. Winners of the event were declared after fair and meticulous assessment. The programme also featured cultural performances, adding a festive and vibrant spirit to the academic event. This initiative served as a platform for students to voice their ideas and sharpen their oratory skills, reinforcing the vision of a vibrant and intellectually empowered young India.
