Anantnag, Aug 01: A Walkathon was organised Friday by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Anantnag, covering a 5-kilometer stretch from Mominabad Crossing to Donipawa Crossing.As per a statement issued here, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 80 staff members from different zones of the district. The Walkathon was jointly flagged off by the Zonal Physical Education Officer, Achabal, and the District Activity Incharge, marking a vibrant display of unity and commitment towards physical well-being. The initiative aimed to promote fitness, camaraderie, and a healthy lifestyle among department staff. The event concluded with appreciation for the participants’ active involvement and discipline, making it a memorable and inspiring occasion for all. The Department of Youth Services and Sports Anantnag also successfully concluded the District Level Kho-Kho Tournament for U/19 Boys at Middle School Bona Dailgam today. The grand finale witnessed an intense and thrilling battle between Higher Secondary School (HSS) Khanabal and HSS Mattan. In a display of outstanding athleticism and teamwork, HSS Mattan emerged victorious, defeating HSS Khanabal in the final match and claiming the first position in the tournament. HSS Khanabal secured the second position, showcasing commendable spirit and sportsmanship throughout the event. Meanhwile, the officials of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Anantnag, held a special Dua-e-Magfirat Majlis at Anantnag, following the culmination of the district-level Walkathon. The prayer gathering was organized to offer prayers for forgiveness and eternal peace to the departed soul of the wife of Shabir Ahmad Dar, Junior Assistant of Zone Bijbehara, who passed away yesterday at her residence in Pampora after a prolonged illness. The YSS fraternity came together in solidarity to express their heartfelt condolences and support to their colleague Shabir Sahab and his family during this difficult time. The Majlis reflected the unity, compassion, and shared grief of the department.
