Jammu, June 11: Alankrita Sharma, an extraordinary under-9 chess prodigy, has made history by becoming the youngest ever Jammu and Kashmir Senior Women’s Champion. This remarkable achievement showcases her immense dedication and hard work. Despite her tender age, Alankrita has demonstrated exceptional perseverance and discipline, dedicating hours daily to hone her skills.
Alankrita’s journey to this historic win includes an impressive record of representing India and holding the title of World No. 1 highest FIDE-rated player in the under-7 category. Her recent victory in the senior championship saw her remain undefeated through all four rounds, scoring 3.5 points out of a possible four. The competition saw Srujanika Gupta secure second place, Sonali Manhas third, and Manasvi Gupta fourth.
The event, organized by the All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association (AJKCA) under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, was a celebration of chess talent in the region. Baldev Raj, President of AJKCA, graced the occasion as the chief guest, distributing trophies and certificates to the winners. The event was overseen by Chairman Jammu Division Selection Committee S.P. Sharma, with Chief Arbiter Bindu Pathania and Ritish Pathania ensuring all matches adhered to FIDE laws of chess.
